A few weeks back, I had the opportunity to be part of something really special. Josh and Antonina, one of the first couples to book me when I first started my business in Ottawa, finally got married!

Super exciting!

We’d been planning this for months with a consultation and a venue tour and all the standard bits and bobs that go into wedding planning. But it was magical to see everything finally come to life.

As a photographer, I have access to go pretty much anywhere I need to go. I got to spend some time with the bride and groom during those final hours — while Antonina was stuck in a makeup chair and Josh was figuring out how to tie his tie. (Full disclosure: I never know how to tie one either.)

My wife, Stephanie worked with me as a second shooter on this one because the venue was so large, and we really managed to capture some magic moments. From the prep to the ceremony to the late night partying, it was a great time all around.

One of the biggest (and most unique) highlights for me was Jona, the dog. When I met Josh and Antonina way back in May, they made it clear that Jona was going to be part of the ceremony. I wondered if that would change (as plans often do) in the run-up to the wedding, but that wasn’t the case, and Steph and I got some great shots of the three of them.

No matter how big or small, I’m always honored when someone chooses to let me capture their special day — especially when it’s this magical.
